However, the grape is known to be a difficult variety to cultivate and transform into wine. That is to say, Pinot Noir’s natural tendency is to produce tightly-packed clusters. This consequently makes it vulnerable to several viticultural hazards involving rot. These hazards above all, require diligent canopy management.

Yet, despite the vintner’s challenges in growing the grape, as well as the process to make the wine, the prices for bottles of Pinot Noir are generally higher than those of other red wines of similar quality.
